Head of Finance Operations Salary : £37000-£48500 Langley Hall is a dynamic, vibrant school based in Langley, Berkshire seeking a full year Head of Finance Operations to oversee the schools financial functions. Working closely with the Executive Head of School, the successful candidate will: 1) Prepare for termly audits 2) Manage payroll and pensions 3) Line manage two finance officers 4) Report to governors on the use of school funds Hours: 40 hours, full year with five weeks holiday plus bank holiday. The candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA and a demonstrable background within a similar accounting role. Knowledge of, or experience in, the education sector and issues relevant to this sector would be advantageous. The post calls for someone who is energetic, self-motivated and is used to working on their own initiative and able to multi task and prioritise appropriately. You will need:
• Previous finance experience
• Good knowledge of MS excel and Sage.
• Excellent communication skills for resolving queries.
• Ability to manage a high volume work load. Closing Date is: 14th August 2019 Interview Date: TBC Role & Responsibilities To review the school's Financial Policies & Procedures regularly in response to changes in legislation, EFA directives and practical experience and gain the approval of the governors for any changes. To be responsible for all communications to and requests for information from the Education Funding Agency. Including: - Whole of Government accounts reports - Pupil premium expenditure reports - Free School Meals information - Extra grant information - Management of Risk analysis - FM and GE reports - Any other ad hoc requests as periodically required To prepare monthly management accounts To arrange banking facilities including cards for members of staff and internet banking. To be involved with the full end of year audit and termly internal audits To report to the Resources committee each term. The report to include: - The P&L management accounts - Any other analysis carried out - such as on Clubs income or lunches etc. To attend the full governors meetings each term to answer any questions. To prepare the monthly payroll information for processing by our external payroll accountants. To make payroll payments including HMR&C and pensions To administer the school's pension's schemes making monthly payments and completing all required returns. To line manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable staff. To carry out a weekly bank reconciliation. To monitor Petty Cash levels and posting of petty cash expenditure to Scholarpack. To action the monthly payroll journal for entry to Scholarpack To carry out a monthly verification of control accounts To implement the Scholarpack system To reclaim all VAT on purchases To prepare an ongoing audit file in preparation for the end of year To work with the finance assistant in the preparation of all accounts payable for approval and payment To ensure all funds due to the school are received as expected and all remittance advices are filed for reference. To work with the Accounts Receivable assistant in chasing debts, following the school's policy for taking legal action as a last resort. To ensure that adequate insurance is arranged to cover buildings, contents, motor, public and employee liability, at the best possible price. To negotiate service contracts. To draw up contracts for the hire of school rooms and pool and ensure invoices are raised as necessary. To action all payments to suppliers once they have been signed off by the approval committee. Carry out all payroll duties on Sage; ensure HMRC submissions are correctly reported. Ensure P35's are submitted. Ensure P60's are completed at the end of the tax year
