The Financial Systems Accoutnant will drive the delivery of a key service within finance and work closely with the leadership to ensure it is fully carried out.

Our client is a major operator in the transport and rail sector. The role is based in London.

Description

Provide a high quality and comprehensive financial accounting, reporting and statutory/regulatory financial compliance service within the orgnisation.

Financial Systems Accountant

Key objectives:

  • Provision of group, statutory and regulatory reports to required deadlines
  • Timely and accurate update of all ledgers
  • Quality and integrity of finance systems and support of users
  • Company accounts are accurate and prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards and policies
  • Compliance with statutory, tax and legal requirements within area of responsibility
  • Compliance with Group Oracle operational guidelines

Key outcomes:

  • Ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial reports and ledgers
  • Produce the company's financial reporting to meet group, statutory, and regulatory requirements ensuring appropriate and sufficient controls are in place
  • Establish, maintain and develop best financial practice by the implementation of controls and procedures and delegated financial authority
  • Manage and control all data interfaces between the finance system and feeder systems
  • Control local systems administration for Oracle / TM1 liaising with Group Oracle support as required
  • Ensure periodic and year end procedures are followed

Profile

Knowledge

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Qualified Accountant
  • A strong working knowledge of financial systems (Oracle Financials)

Skills

  • Ability to influence at all levels of the business
  • Ability to identify and proactively solve problems
  • High degree of IT literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and an ability to explain complex financial issues to a non-financial audience

Experience

  • Significant experience of large scale or ERP systems (Oracle)
  • Evidence of commercial awareness and able to demonstrate a broad based view of issues, events and activities and a perception of their longer term impact or wider implications
  • Experience of rail or similar transport industry
