Our client is a well-established business at the leading edge of technical innovation in plastic compounding. Specialising in the supply of thermoplastic compounds, based upon prime and/or recycled feedstock. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our busy team and be responsible for the preparation of two payrolls and to ensure the integrity and accuracy of these. The role offers up to 30 hours per week, but this can be flexible. Primary responsibilities include:
• Ensure payrolls are processed in an accurate and timely manner in line with statutory legislation and company policies
• Accurate input of data from time & attendance system into payroll system
• Checking and reconciliation of allocated payroll output prior to BACS submission
• Liaising with HMRC, the Pensions Regulator and other parties on a variety of payroll related matters
• Ensuring that calculations for payments to HMRC, chosen pension providers and other 3rd parties are accurate and paid promptly
• Allocation of payslips and other payroll documentation out to employees
• Carrying out payroll year-end procedures and produce and send all returns as required
• Dealing with enquiries from statutory bodies
• Dealing with enquiries from employees and Managers in an efficient and professional manner
• Assisting in identifying and implementing process improvements
• Ensure that knowledge and training is kept up to date Qualification and skills:
• Proven experience of running dual or multiple payrolls within a medium sized organisation (minimum 200 employees)
• Sound working knowledge of HMRC requirements regarding Tax, NI, Statutory deductions and payments is essential
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong experience of Time & Attendance systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
• Strong experience with Time & Attendance systems
• Organised and methodical
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to deal with problems and issues under pressure
• Ability to work effectively without supervision but capable of seeking assistance when required
