Ikano Bank have an exciting career opportunity on offer for an Operational Risk Manager at their award-winning centre in Nottingham. The Role As an Operational Risk Manager, you will be a key member of the branch structure providing guidance and support to all functional areas on Operational Risk activities, and in conjunction with the Operational Risk Officer in the UK to ensure functional areas are complying with relevant local instructions and Bank guidelines and Policies. As an experienced 1st Line Operational Risk Manager, you will be responsible for:
• Providing guidance and advice to all functional areas on Operational Risk activities.
• Promoting a controlled operational risk environment
• Offering support to departments on practices and processes to mitigate operational risks
• Ensuring all operational risk management information produced is accurate and meaningful. Key Accountabilities Internal Controls:
• Provide assistance to the functional areas on process mapping and identification of risk and controls
• Undertake trend analysis on deficient controls to understand areas for improvement within the functional areas of the branch and facilitate the closure of any mitigating actions; Operational Risk Assessment:
• Manage and maintain the overall UK branch risk register
• Define the action plans to mitigate operational risks aligned to the key risks of the UK Branch Business Incidents:
• Facilitate all Business Incident Management in the branch, assisting process owners in root cause analysis, action plans and ongoing risk identification and mitigation;
• Follow up on the closure of business incidents and action plans, ensuring evidence has been validated and saved so that an audit trial exists. Business Continuity:
• Support key process owners in setting recovery time objectives, highlighting key external support requirements etc in these scenarios.
• Establish and be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and testing of the Branch Business Continuity Plan in line with the Business Continuity Guideline; New Product Approval Process:
• Assist the business in identifying to what extent operational risk assessments are required on new or amended products
• Assist relevant process owners within the Branch in undertaking any required risk assessments
• To ensure new products, material outsourcing and the development of business strategy is undertaken consistent with bank wide risk appetite, recommending changes or solutions About you To be successful for the role of Operational Risk Manager you will have:
• Self-motivation and organisation
• Passion for structure and process
• The ability to demonstrate building strong relationships between risk and the business so strong communication is important
• A high level of integrity and attention to detail, be logical, analytical, and methodical
• Natural curiosity that means you thrive on helping others identify risks and providing great insight / feedback to the business in a simple easily understood way
• To enjoy training and supporting people in the business on the approaches to risk management in a fun and understandable way to make sure people understand their responsibilities. Skills and Attributes
• Educated to minimum A Level standard.
• Experience in Operational Risk Management within the UK Financial Services Sector.
• Implementation and on-going management of Business Continuity and Disaster recovery plans
• High level of integrity and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
