Assistant Finance Manager A very varied, busy and unique position has become available for an Assistant Finance Manager to join a dedicated, warm and professional team within an established not for profit organisation north of York. Working closely with the Accountant and Finance Director, this is a role that encompasses dealing with all aspects of the management of the financial accounts and includes ownership of a lot of different ongoing projects (e.g. setting up international payments etc) as well as being a main point of contact for a wide variety of internal and external individuals all needing different information from a technical level (report writing) to a very basic query such as holiday pay and expense information. You will be preparing management accounts and monitoring variances and this role will involve liaison with budget holders, report writing and lots of reconciliation (including heavy manipulation of excel data; v look ups and pivot tables). You will be ensuring the monthly accounting timetable and close down for the department is fulfilled including journals and reconciliation of ledgers. The Assistant Finance Manager will also be involved in dealing with VAT returns, assisting in the preparation of statutory accounts and contributing towards cash flow management, budgets and the annual audit. The Assistant Finance manager you should also be able to cover and support others within the department as well as have the experience and ability to assist with the department's development plan. The successful candidate for this role will have a strong background within a similar role and although you will have a great deal of responsibility and accountability if you are ambitious and want career progression then this is not the environment for you. Personality wise, you will be confident yet diplomatic and patient, team orientated and happy to 'muck' in wherever whilst also being accountable for your own work and project completion.
