The Firm: Our client is among the top 25 UK chartered accountancy firms. The company is a commercially astute organisation with a personal, partner-led service aimed at entrepreneurial small, medium enterprises (SMEs), large corporates and high-net worth individuals. The clients come from many different backgrounds and are active in all branches of commerce and industry. The comany's reputation is grounded in quality, delivering premium advisory services efficiently and cost-effectively. Founded in 1933, the practice comprises 29 partners and approximately 300 staff supplying a range of services spanning audit, corporate taxation, private client services, VAT, business recovery and forensic accounting, together with a range of sector groups offering specialist industry knowledge. The Department: The Forensic Department comprises of 2 Partners and a sizeable team. Role: The role will require carrying out a portfolio of licensing audits within the forensic accounting department of a Top 25 firm. The role involves visiting the offices of companies that licence the right to use well-known character images on their products, then interrogating their accounting and other records to verify that royalties have been paid to the owners of the character images in accordance with the licence agreements. For each audit, a report of audit findings will need to be prepared and the candidate also may well be involved in assisting with the negotiated settlement of these audit findings, as required by the rights owners. The role will involve significant travel literally across the world, including Europe and the USA, and possibly the Far East and Central and South America. It is expected that travelling to and from the audits will be done at weekends for which overtime will be paid. As a guide, the job could involve spending two weeks out on audit followed by two to three weeks in the office. The Candidate: No previous experience of licensing audits is required, as training will be provided. However, some experience of auditing is required (such as statutory company audits, compliance audits, tax or fraud investigations). Many of the audits will be carried out alone, so the candidate must be confident to travel and meet new people in unfamiliar territories/countries. The candidate must be able to think on his/her feet and adapt to new situations. The candidate must be self-motivated and well organised, as much work will be carried out unsupervised, and there will be numerous live audits at a time - therefore they will be good at multi-tasking. Good communication skills are essential (face-to-face, telephone and written). Experience of report writing would be an advantage. No minimum qualifications are required but we envisage the role would suit a newly qualified ACCA/ACA. The Benefits:
