My client is a global, c. £2Bn t/o manufacturing group with European Headquarters based in Derbyshire. This is a forward thinking business with a long term diversification strategy. They are currently seeking to add a UK Tax Manager The role has no direct reports but, as a member of the Global Tax Function and a local centre of tax excellence, achieves goals and objectives working with Divisional and operating unit Finance staff. The role has responsibility for ensuring that the areas listed below are appropriately managed, sometimes this will require calling on professional support which will be tailored according to the individual's areas of tax experience. Responsibilities include; Primary contact with PwC UK Primary HMRC Contact SAO Documentation and Support Refresh the UK Tax Strategy published statement ensuring alignment and compliance UK Research and Planning - proactive approach to potential legislative change and changes such as the consequences of Brexit Develop tax systems notably pursuant to "Making Tax Digital" and internal information requirements such as share point UK Income Tax Accounting (Stat/IFRS/US GAAP) & preparation and review of statutory account tax inclusions and footnotes Ensure all tax returns for the UK Group are prepared, submitted and compliant Track and report on income tax payments including Group payment arrangements Optimise tax e.g. by ensuring R&D credits are claimed Lead specific tax exercises as necessary including; permanent establishment reviews, CFC analysis, corporate interest restriction returns, short visitor analysis and periodic effective tax rate calculations Maintain tax past and current tax audit status/summaries, report on audit notifications As Global Tax Team Member duties include- Ensure that Global tax strategy is informed by business developments and strategy Document tax procedures, tax accounting & tax risk assessments in accordance with Group policy Ensure that transfer pricing is in accordance with policy and appropriate Support Group tax planning and reporting activity Promote continuous improvement and the achievement of the Tax Functions performance metrics Carry out special projects as required by the Global Tax Director or CFO Suitable candidates will: - Qualified (Accountant or Institute of Tax) role, individual should have 5 or more years post qualifying tax experience either in practice or industry. Specific skills that are required to excel in this role include the following: - Knowledge and proven experience in the application of UK tax - Awareness of tax laws throughout Europe and global tax issues - Detailed knowledge of tax accounting - Awareness of pertinent technical accounting matters and treasury - Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. - Strategic thinking and keen management skills.
