Salary:
Starting Salary would be £60,164 with the maximum salary on this scale being £69,396 subject to future COPFS pay awards.

ABOUT COPFS The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of all crime in Scotland; the investigation of deaths which require further explanation; and the investigation of complaints against the police. ABOUT THE ROLE Finance Division's primary objective is to protect and support the Crown Agent as our Accountable Officer. This includes making sure that all funding is used effectively, efficiently and economically and that we drive a strong culture of planning, risk management and performance. The Finance function comprises of two branches: Financial & Systems Accounting and Management Accounting & Business Planning and has the following key deliverables: Customer focussed expert advice and specialist services; Strategic Financial Planning including support of Spending Review work; Effective and equitable allocation of resources through the annual Business Planning round; Ensuring the best use of those resources while remaining within budget through robust monthly budget management; Costing and supporting the negotiation of pay settlements; Production of the COPFS and QLTR Annual Accounts; Payment of suppliers, witness expenses and staff travel and subsistence claims; Preparation of statutory returns such as VAT returns; Maintenance and development of Finance systems (Sun) Ensuring effective finance processes and controls are in place. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA REQUIRED The post-holder must have extensive experience of public sector and wider accounting standards, policies and practices in order to ensure compliance with legislation and Scottish Government guidance.
