Risk Analyst, Risk Control Competitive 'Senior' Base Generous Bens bonus Reports to: Head of Risk Controlling London Job Purpose: The Risk Controlling team ensures the effective risk control of trading activities by providing the board with unbiased, comprehensive, accurate and timely market risk and performance information. The team also provides advice to senior management, trading desks and Finance through the translation of market risk data into value adding information. The team is based in London and focuses on the European Gas Desk, Oil Desk and LNG Desk. The Risk Analyst is responsible to provide detailed and appropriate valuation, analysis and provision of daily Risk and performance information for the LNG desk. The desk has a wide range of complex business activities that require a strong risk team to partner and control, therefore enthusiasm for working in a challenging and constantly evolving environment is essential. Principal Accountabilities and Activities: Provide detailed analysis of risk measures, position, P&L and trading strategies for traders, Finance and senior management. Value and capture new products within both the core trading system (Endur) and development of secondary risk systems where required (together with technical support). Prepare position, risk and P&L reports for the desks' trading books on a daily and monthly basis. Undertake risk measurement and limit checking, including VaR, stress testing and validation of input parameters used by pricing and risk measurement models. Engage in ad-hoc analysis on new markets/products/asset proposals. Provide information to Finance as required (e.g. MtM, reconciliation or realised P&L). Support the continuous improvement of Proprietary Risk controls, reporting and analysis in line with business requirements. Participate in a number of varied projects across the business. Reporting Relationships: Role reports to the Head of Risk Controlling London. Role has a functional reporting line into the Head of Risk Controlling Gas & LNG Day to day contact with Global Risk colleagues, Front Office, IT and Business Engineering. Regular Contact with Risk Methods, Back Office, Finance and Structuring & Valuation. Education & Qualification: Degree level or equivalent, preferably in the field of Economics, Maths, Science, or closely related. Working experience in energy business/ energy trading environment. Preferably working experience in the LNG business. Competencies and Technical Skills: Experience of Risk management preferably in the LNG business, e.g. application of limit measurement concept and usage of complex models. An ability to liaise with Front Office on complex matters and reports. Understanding of commodity trading, trading lifecycle, physical asset trading instruments and/or financial asset trading instruments. Some commodity expertise and basic knowledge of related markets. Proven experience of modelling, option theory, Monte-Carlo simulation techniques, Greeks, pricing models, stress testing, VaR concepts. Very good numerical ability. Experience of Risk reporting environments and commodity market data source. Evidence of good structure and quantitative or qualitative analytical approaches in tackling issues and tasks, together with strong evidence of good attention to detail in delivery. Experience in managing relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, in order to ensure good working relations and negotiated deliverables. Good written and verbal communication skills. Evidence of working in a cross-cultural team environment and contribution to cohesion using an empathetic and collaborative approach. Experience of conceptually developing complex models. Specialist commodity expertise and knowledge of the Oil, Gas and LNG markets. Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially Excel and Access. Intermediate to strong knowledge of specialist IT systems and software, especially OpenLink Endur, Oracle SQL and MicroStrategy. Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages and mathematical modelling software.
