Director of Credit & Operations The Business A regionally focused alternative lending platform who provide Residential Property Development loans to SME Property Developers and House Builders to fund small scale developments. Role Summary The Director of Credit & Operations (DCO) is a hybrid role that is responsible for both the underwriting function and all the operational processes relating to the lending activities of the business. The DCO will be responsible for the management, implementation and continuous development of back office systems and processes that underpin the businesses SME lending offering, namely underwriting, loan administration, collections and portfolio management. Alongside the MD the DCO will also develop processes which lead to the development of the alternative lending platform. Core Responsibilities General Portfolio Management - responsible for the management of the lending portfolio; building and maintaining a balanced portfolio in accordance with stated credit and risk appetites. Monthly analysis to be undertaken of the portfolio and a report to be prepared monthly for the Board and the Credit & Risk sub-committee. Pending Business Log - Record all new loan applications; detailing the status of each new application, along with the current status of each existing loan. Undertake an active role in the management and development of all relevant professional panels. Attend quarterly meetings of the businesses Credit & Risk sub-committee. Continually Evaluate the operational procedures and working practises to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Be mindful of and remain connected with the social purposes of the business and the need to deliver more than a financial return to those parties who invest in the business. Credit / Underwriting Run the day to day underwriting and collections function - overseeing a wide range of operational activities alongside managing customer relationships. These include but are not limited to: performing credit analysis, establishing direct communication channels with applicants and borrowers, issuing loan agreements, identifying delinquent accounts, taking direct collections action and addressing customer complaints. Evaluate and underwrite new applications using financial statements, credit reference agencies and third-party information to make decisions in accordance with the Credit Policy. Use analytical skills to ensure risk is appropriate for each application approved. Maintain credit files on an ongoing basis. As required, engage with Non-Executive Directors of the Board and Credit & Risk sub-committee members to consider and support out of policy lending. Operations Oversee all operational activities of the business and translate the company's strategic plans into defined operational plans. Design and seek to continuously improve new business processes to deliver the aspirational operating model agreed. This includes, but is not restricted to, defining operating rules and policies, assigning operational roles and responsibilities and integrating manual operations with IT systems. Additionally, identifying and selecting technology partners and outsourcing functionality where deemed appropriate. The Person You will come with significant Real Estate Finance experience, including Residential Development, having worked in a Commercial Bank or alternative lenders Credit Risk function as an underwriter with Credit Operations experience being desirable.
