The organisation performs and teaches Brazilian Samba drumming across Nigeria to provide access to the creative arts and to empower young people to become agents for change in their communities. The workshops offer a space to embrace creativity; learn valuable key skills, like leadership, confidence and teamwork; and to grow together. The children and young people who attend their free workshops are from a wide range of social, ethnic and religious backgrounds.

You will be reviewing their progress, providing further training as needed. This placement will be heavy on training to further build their system and capacity to manage it internally.

They have a new Project Coordinator & Logistics Manager who would benefit from some more training in excel. With the wider team you will also be advising on payroll procedures for salaries being paid internationally, creating a financial procedures manual, training staff on how to create annual financial statements and monthly reconciliations.

There is also scope to support with fundraising. While fundraising sits separately to finance, our volunteers can offer assistance by creating budgets and presenting financial information for the fundraising proposals.

Company

Accounting for International Development (A f I D) offers accountants the opportunity to use their skills to make a genuine difference as volunteers and to gain invaluable hands-on overseas experience in the International Development sector.  Tailored volunteer assignments of 2 to 12 weeks form part of an ongoing strategy to build the financial management capacity and long term sustainability of small community based charities across Africa, Asia and South America. Our partners which include street kid centres, health clinics and rural schools are doing amazing work to tackle extreme poverty and inequality in their communities but are unable to access vital professional services. A f I D is now supporting almost grassroots charities in over 50 countries across Africa, Asia and South America and are keen to talk to more accountants willing to share their invaluable skills and experience. In only ten years we are pleased to announce the placement of our 1000th  volunteer. This will take the total hours of pro-bono financial management coaching by our volunteers to over 200,000. An extraordinary effort, that assisted the development, and in some cases survival, of some fantastic organisations. A f I D is a double award winning social enterprise supported by UnLtd & The Millennium Awards Trust (Funded by the National Lottery).
