Client Details

The client has fast established themselves within the local and national market as a sector leader within Consultancy industry and has promising growth plans for the coming years. Working in a busy office environment there is a focus on culture and a professional approach to business. Requiring an experienced bookkeeper to assist the finance team, this will be a critical role within the company with room for development within the role. With free car parking on-site in Bedford, they are in an easily commutable location for anyone located in Bedford, Luton, Milton Keynes or the surrounding area.

Description

The Key responsibilities of the Bookkeeper role will include:

  • Taking ownership of the Purchase Ledger function
  • Processing invoices and raising PO's
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Preparing monthly payment runs
  • Reconciling inter company accounts
  • Maintaining petty cash balance and cash flow
  • Reviewing month accounts and recitfying any errors
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns for authorisation
  • Support month end and year end close processes
  • Supporting internal and external audits to meet compliance
  • Ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all relevant accounting tasks
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Finance Director

Profile

The successful candidate for the Bookkeeper role will have:

  • Proven previous experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping systems and processes
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, namely Excel (VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables)
  • Previous experience with a variety of accounting systems like SAGE
  • Understanding of working with inter company accounts and multi-currency
  • Strong attention to detail is essential within the role
  • Effective communication and an ability to deal with queries
  • Ability to problem solve and improve processes
  • Part Qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA or AAT Qualified or IAB/ICB
