Job Description - Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst - EMEA West and South Service Offering (190000U6)Job Description Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst - EMEA West and South Service Offering 190000U6The position is to join the EMEA West-South (UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Iberia, Middle East and Africa) catastrophe analytics team.The Catastrophe Analytics team, embedded into the broking unit, assists clients in analysing the risk to their business from all aspects of natural perils and catastrophes. Clients include insurance companies, reinsurers and governments.The Role We are looking for a Divisional Director to lead the core Service Offering production for Catastrophe Analytics in EMEA W/S based in London. The primary focus for the individual will be to work closely with the commercial team and Catastrophe Analytics leads across the sub-territories to develop our Service Offering. This will involve the assessment of needed research and development, staying abreast of latest market and scientific developments, and connecting with the Willis Research Network (WRN), Model Research Evaluation (MRE) and Model Development (AMD) to develop new service offerings. The secondary focus, as an experienced analyst, is to support core modelling and project management across the team where needed, and to help streamline and apply findings from our central work on global clients.The role will incorporate year round client engagement, promoting current services to our clients, on topics such as model interpretation, portfolio management and non-modelled risk assessment.Your Catastrophe analytics background would ideally be at an Underwriting Syndicate, Broking or Model Development Company and you will be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of catastrophe modelling and how this relates to business decisions. In addition, you should have sound presentation skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical detail to clients who do not necessarily have the same level of technical knowledge of the subject. You must also possess excellent teamwork skills and be able to co-ordinate projects.The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual, with a proven track record in the insurance market and proven experience in catastrophe risk analysis.Role scope:Operation of catastrophe modelling software (RMS and AIR)Oversight and knowledge of data auditing & cleaningReport preparation and presentationUnderstanding of financial modelling softwareInterpretation of model outputsSynthesis, presentation and explanation of catastrophe model results and service offering to clientsDeveloping innovative analytics solutions to quantify catastrophe risk and support business requirementsDistribution of analytics solutions to colleagues and upskilling the wider team in their benefits The RequirementsPhD or degree in numerate or hazard related subject, ideally Applied Maths, Statistics or Engineering, Computer Science or relevant scientific subject such as Physics, Seismology, Atmospheric Science, Geo-Sciences.Track record in London/global insurance marketsExcellent working knowledge of at least one vendor model (i.e. RMS, AIR, EQE)Excellent understanding of the underlying perils' science and model components.Ideally be able to demonstrate innovative applications and solutions for risk assessment.Strong Problem Solving skills and keen attention to detailExcellent IT skills, ideally with computer programming skills (e.g. VBA, R, python)Knowledgeable about reinsuranceDemonstrated working knowledge of SQLKnowledge of probability theory advantageousComfortable dealing with brokers and underwritersExcellent communication skillsAbility to work under pressure and demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise project workAbility to process and understand data quickly and creativelProven ability to integrate into a time critical business environment and meet challenging time linesThe ability to work in a team and autonomously and highly motivated to learn and grow within a global market leader.The Company Willis Towers Watson is a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company that helps clients around the world turn risk into a path for growth.
