About The Role Role Title Group Accountant Location Paddington, London Reports to Finance Manager Direct Reports None Role Summary
• This position is primarily responsible for the financial accounting for a number of head office companies within the Group, and other privately held companies Key Responsibilities & main stakeholders Key Responsibilities General ledger management: General maintaining and running of the accounting records of a number of Head Office amd family-owned companies, which may include operating companies and investment holding companies in the UK and overseas (the allocation of which may change as the Group's activities develop) Prepare the month-end close (accruals, prepayments etc.) Complete Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliations Quarterly VAT returns Approval of purchase orders / invoices to ensure correct coding by the central AP team / business users Review of monthly accounts prior to submission to Finance Business Partner and FP&A Manager; responding to and resolving their queries Raising sales and recharge invoices where necessary, and managing the sales ledger/aged debtors Preparing statutory accounts including full audit files, and liaising with auditors where necessary Preparing supporting analyses for Group consolidation (e.g. group intercompany reconciliation and balance sheet notes) Liaising with tax team on tax return queries for allocated companies Ad hoc tasks depending on other needs related to transaction processing, procurement or finance projects; and oversight and review of accounting records prepared by external accounting providers where relevant Key Stakeholders Group Financial Controller Finance Managers Business Partners and FP&A Manager Head of Finance Tax team Statutory Auditors Experience This role is financial accounting oriented. The role holder must be able to demonstrate the following knowledge and experience: Journal preparation and posting Balance Sheet reconciliations Understanding of foreign currency transactions VAT returns Statutory Accounts preparation Preparation of audit files and liaising with auditors Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Other preferred (but not essential) experience includes: Experience using Unit4 accounting system and any accounts preparation software Skills & Qualifications Key Skills Quick learner, proactive, flexible Ability to meet deadlines and take responsibility for own work Attention to detail Sound technical knowledge Good communicator, team player Qualifications
• Studying ACCA, CIMA or ACA/CA
