Competitive Date posted: 28 June 2019 Closing date: 26 July 2019 Role summary The Nexus Technology team is responsible for implementing strategic portfolio management and trading solutions across Investments globally. The Business Analyst builds strong relationships with the QA testers, Developers, Product Owner and end-consumers to ensure the technology product meets their requirements and expectations. The Analyst ensures that the backlog is prioritised with the Product Owner and is responsible for ensuring work is prepared for each iteration and the development team have everything they need to deliver the sprint goals. Duties and responsibilities
• Complete a Product Backlog from 'Epic' level business analysis and design down to detailed 'User stories'
• create of BDD feature files for the automated testing of all business logic
• ownership of Epics and Stories from analysis phase to live; including defect management and work prioritisation
• QA & UAT support ensuring knowledge transfer for each story and guidance around testing scope and approach
• responsible for management and prioritisation of the product backlog with the Product Owner
• work with the Product Owner to understand the importance of regular deliveries and agreeing a minimal viable product for phased delivery Required skills, qualifications and experience
• Must have graduate qualification in finance;
• must have worked in a fund management company as a business analyst supporting portfolio management
• demonstrated ability to estimate the time taken to carry out analysis tasks, and meet the time estimated
• demonstrated ability to develop product backlogs from high level design to detailed small, independent user stories
• demonstrated ability to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
• demonstrated ability to work independently with users to define concepts and agree requirements
• must be able to demonstrate a collaborative approach with developers and subject matter experts to establish the approach to projects, and ensure good communication of requirements
• significant experience of Scrum/Agile, iterative delivery and scrum ceremonies
• must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts
• must be able to demonstrate the ability to drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully implement plans. Must be able to focus development teams on the tasks in hand and drive delivery
• must be able to demonstrate the ability to drill into analysis, using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, scenarios, workflow analysis, in order to ensure a thorough understanding of the problem and proposed solution. Must be able to demonstrate control of projects through effective plans and deliverable tracking
• must be able to demonstrate critical evaluation of information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests for the underlying true needs
• must be able to demonstrate the ability to influence business and technical users to show that the proposed solutions will deliver benefits
• participate in daily scrum/stand-up to ensure the whole team are kept informed of their work. Communicate priorities, issues and plans with development and business teams
• significant experience in portfolio management & trading operating models
• significant experience in Investment functions for an Institutional Fund Management company
• good understanding of the different types of asset classes
• good knowledge & experience of Agile work management tooling e.g. Jira
• proficiency in SQL and VBA: knowledge of joins and cursors Desirable skills, qualifications and experience
• Preferably with a post-graduate education
• ideally IMC, or other qualifications or courses demonstrating an interest in the business, demonstrated history of learning, particularly in the front office environment.
