An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified Senior Finance Manager for an 18 month contract (possibility of extension) in Edinburgh city centre. We are seeking a high calibre individual who has high emotional intelligence and relationship building skills to lead a team in a dynamic and project based environment. The Company A well known public sector organisation in Edinburgh is going through a colossal level of business and finance transformation as it strives to become a centre of excellence for Finance. The Role This is a people management role with a team of 8 as well as requiring first class stakeholder engagement skills and a strong technical/financial reporting track record. Main responsibilities and deliverables: Managing, overseeing and maintaining the group accounting policies and procedures and financial control environment Co-ordinating the delivery of the University Group annual financial statements, statutory returns and other formal papers and returns to various University committees and external stakeholders; Planning, co-ordinating and delivering the annual external audits Working with the transformation team to deliver strategic changes to systems and processes Managing and development of the project teams within Financial Control, Investments, Capital Accounting and Statutory Accounting Planning and overseeing the annual accounts timetable, monthly and annual accounts close process, communicating with stakeholders across the organisation Anticipate and solve problems relating to Finance Control, Department Policies and Processes and empower project team members to implement optimal solutions. They will support colleagues to identify root causes and take remedial courses of action The Person CCAB professionally qualified accountant with experience of managing and developing an accounting team People manager who is a team player with excellent planning, organisational and technical financial management skills Demonstrate empathy, engagement and influence with a diverse range of colleagues and will have the skills required to lead, manage and embed change
