An exciting opportunity to set up and develop the new Controls Assurance function for the Fund. The team will monitor and facilitate the implementation of risk management across the funding products and make recommendations.

Description

Exciting opportunity to set up and develop the new Controls Assurance function for the Fund.

The Head of Controls Assurance will have a key role in working with colleagues across the Fund to ensure that checks are proportionate and efficient and that the nature of assurance work adds value to our staff and customers.

It is expected that the checks in place will not be static and will evolve in response to learning and changes in funding strategy.

The Head of Controls Assurance will also manage the Controls Assurance team

The Controls Assurance team will monitor and facilitate the implementation of effective risk management practices across their funding products and will make recommendations based on the data it gathers and analyses providing valuable information on the extent to which funding controls are operating properly and are effective in keeping risks within appetite.

The team will provide second line defence against the risk of fraud, error and overload across all their funding products.

The team will also be responsible for overseeing the Fund's person verification process and CIFAS checks as well as supporting the investigation of complex risk concerns identified by funding teams.

Profile

Our client is looking for an exceptional leader who has an excellent understanding of establishing, monitoring and improving proportionate assurance processes. In particular we are looking for someone who has:

Proven experience as an assurance/risk manager or similar role.

Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance strategies, frameworks, and methodologies.

Understanding of funding and the context in which funding decisions are made

Exceptional stakeholder relationship management skills

Experience of managing quality assurance frameworks or similar and the ability to analyse data and create and review processes.

Ability to set own and team work priorities and work to internal and external deadlines.

An understanding of risk management processes, including the identification, escalation and mitigation of operational issues and risks.
