The overall purpose of this position is to act as a Business Partner controlling and reporting on the financial and operational performance of the business in an accurate and timely manner, while providing financial analysis to facilitate strategic decision making to senior management.

Main Responsibilities

Management accounting, Reporting & Control


  • To manage the management accountant position and current tasks
  • To prepare monthly and weekly operational management information as required
  • To produce the monthly management reporting pack for management review in a timely and accurate manner ensuring full commentary on variances to budget and forecast are explained
  • To provide analysis of financial and operating performance and to develop financial and operational reporting as required.
  • To manage inventory, accuracy of quantities, valuation and revaluation, provision levels in line with group policy and actively work with the business to manage and reduce risk. Clearly identifying variances and drivers of these variances and reporting them as required. Ensuring that reconciliations of respective balance sheet accounts are produced on a monthly basis for review
  • To provide sales analysis, including insightful trends and variances, discounts and other drivers impacting revenue.
  • To monitor, calculate and report benefits of business initiatives in terms of cost out and business improvements, against budget and to provide insightful information on performance, providing monthly forecasts of such initiatives.
  • To calculate recovery rates for budget and standard costing, clearly demonstrating movements to actuals and analysing the key drivers of the change.
  • Forecasting and budgeting recovery levels and differentials to enable business management decisions.
  • To manage, report, budget and forecast working capital with clear explanations and highlighting issues and variances providing insightful improvement options.
  • To prepare and submit financial information to the Group upon management approval
  • To prepare budgets and forecasts in line with business and Group requirements.
  • To develop, control and update product costs, sales estimates and standard costing
  • To assist with the preparation of statutory financial information, for reporting and audit.
  • To assist with the review and development of financial and business systems.
  • To identify any potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices and procedures
  • Ensuring capitalization of assets is maintained including fixed asset and Right of use, in line with group policy, providing relevant data for reporting purposes, audits, budgets and forecasts. Completing full reconciliations on a monthly basis to maintain integrity.
  • To maintain financial controls within the business.
  • To prioritize workload to ensure that the competing demands of the organization are met.
  • To instill, promote and maintain working relationships with all levels of management and employees.
  • To assist with and complete adhoc task as requested

  • Other Responsibilities


  • To have a good knowledge and understanding of the Company's disciplinary and grievance procedures and where acting under these guidelines be able to provide supporting evidence.
  • To adhere to the requirements of the Data Protection Act in respect of confidentiality and disclosure of personal data
  • To be aware and to adhere to all Company polices at all times
  • To be aware of general responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Policy.
  • To carry out performance reviews and appraisals in accordance with company procedure

  • Profile

    The successful candidate will:

    • Have people management experience
    • Be Hands On
    • Have Manufacturing experience
    • Have lots of Cost Accounting experience - ideally from FMCG background
    • Be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
