Site Financial Controller - Technology/Manufacturing Group - Swindon - £55,000 per annum - Hays Accountancy

Your new company

Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading and global technology/manufacturing group looking for an experienced and dynamic Plant Financial Controller. Based in their Swindon site the Plant Controller is responsible for all aspects of financial management including planning, reporting, accounting and controls and is accountable for accurately reflecting the financial position of operations. The role will support the Operations Leadership team and work closely with the Plant Manager, Supply Chain and Purchasing teams and with the UK Finance Shared Services team.

Your new role

Your will be responsible for monitoring monthly and YTD actual costs of production vs. standard costs and financial forecasts, including analysis of variances and making recommendations to management for improvements. You will prepare financial-based production reports, review and prepare general ledger journal entries to accurately report the financial condition of the production facility. Meet monthly and annual financial close timelines and prepare schedules for management and corporate reporting. You will prepare the annual budget for presentation to company management including plant department expenses, hourly labor budget, capital spending budget, raw material costing, standard costs for finished goods, manufacturing variances plan, and inventory plan. You will conduct and supervise physical inventory checks and fixed asset audits along with audit inventory cycle counts to ensure compliance with SOX. You will be responsible for training plant personnel on inventory controls and develop/maintain written procedures for all accounting related functions within the facility inclusive of cost and inventory accounting, payroll, accounts payable, budgeting, capital expenditures, and monthly closing processes.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this hands-on and permanent Site Financial Controller position you will have a m minimum 5 years of progressive cost accounting and/or analysis experience, ideally within a large manufacturing organisation. Knowledge of management accounting, cost and inventory accounting with strong analytical skills. You will be CIMA/ACCA qualified with strong MS Excel skills and ideally SAP experience. You will possess the intensity, agility and aptitude to successfully manage multiple simultaneous priorities and projects and support a matrix of diverse customers and stakeholders. You will need to focus on continuous improvement and have the ability to effectively develop people and transfer knowledge into and across the financial and manufacturing organisations.
