Assistant Accountant - Permanent Role - Construction/Manufacturing Group - £24,000 - £26,000 per annum - Hays

Hays Accountancy & Finance are currently partnering with a leading and growing construction/manufacturing group based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Assistant Accountant. A great opportunity where you can really progress and develop in a varied and hands-on role, supporting the Management Accountant and Financial Controller.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve assisting in the production of monthly management accounts including posting journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and overhead analysis. You will be involved in weekly bank reconciliations, posting of general ledger journals, monthly inter-company account reconciliations along with maintenance of fixed asset register and depreciation journals. You will assist in maintaining cash flow forecast spreadsheets, assist with annual audit pack preparation along with entering bank payments and reviewing aged debtor/creditor balances. You will assist in analysing accounting information and support the group and senior management with various projects and ad-hoc duties.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this varied and permanent Assistant Accountant role you will need experience within a similar finance role. Ideally AAT qualified or working towards your AAT qualification, candidates qualified by experience will be considered. You will need strong communication skills to build internal/external relationships, key attention to detail and a good level of MS Excel knowledge. Ideally you would have worked within an SME previously and be used to managing various work-loads. Experience with Sage packages and within the construction/manufacturing sector would be advantageous but not essential.
