Job Role: Financial Reporting Accountant Sector: Public Sector - Local Government

Circa £49,000 Duration: Permanent Our client is looking for 3 Financial Reporting Accountants to join their team. As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you will report to the Chief Accountant and also have key relationships with Business Partners, Senior Financial Accountants, Heads of Finance, Director of Finance, External Auditors and others. You will also have the opportunity to develop your management skills by managing a team of three people. Job Role of Financial Reporting Accountant: To keep fully informed of the latest developments in respect of financial legislation/accountancy regulations and International Financial Reporting Standards To lead the Council's annual closure of accounts procedures, keeping budget holders fully informed of deadlines and information requirements in line with corporate guidelines To participate actively in the annual audit of accounts process, being a key contact for external auditors, replying to queries raised and responding proactively to audit recommendations in implementing measures which enhance control and risk management To ensure the council is aware of developments in local government finance that will impact on financial planning and the revenue and capital budgets, briefing senior stakeholders as appropriate To provide high quality consistent advice, support and process management in a cost effective and efficient way that positively impacts customer effectiveness, efficiency and confidence Person Specification for Financial Reporting Accountant The ideal candidate for this role will be a CIPFA qualified (or the equivalent qualification) and have experience of financial planning and budgeting in local government. Experience working in a political environment, senior management experience and experience using finance based computer applications are all extremely desirable.
