Part-time Bookkeeper, privately owned rural business near Hitchin, adaptable finance role for 20-30 hours but must be across 5 days, office based, c.£30k pro rata, depending on experience, study support, must drive/have own transport (ref: CL2326) Our Client Our client is involved in a number of businesses including property management and mixed farming so you would need to be comfortable around this environment. This would suit someone seeking to develop their career within bookkeeping in a flexible, family friendly environment with study support for AAT or equivalent. The Role Reporting to the friendly and supportive FD, the part-time Bookkeeper will join a small, friendly team of 6 at an exciting time in this forward thinking and progressive business. Tasks will include managing the day to day finances of the business using Landmark System's KEYprime Accounts and Property Management software - full training will be given. Key

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for maintaining the accounting and property database and chart of accounts
• Generating, reviewing and processing VAT returns for partnership and related companies
• Processing payroll and pension administration and HMRC payments
• Producing and reviewing management reports
• Recording cash receipts daily
• Depositing cheques and cash
• Registering deposits with the tenancy deposit scheme (DPS) and being returned at end of tenancy
• Ensuring that receivables are collected promptly and chasing any aged debts
• Coding supplier invoices and processing payment by BACS in a timely manner
• Implementing new purchase order pre-approval system
• Arranging utility re-charges with estate management team
• Conducting a monthly reconciliation of each bank account and reporting balances daily
• Reconciling all accounts ledgers
• Monitoring and controlling fixed assets and livestock records
• Checking monthly rent demand schedules are correct before release
• Issuing invoices
• Liaising with estate team to ensure that new tenants and outgoing tenants are dealt with correctly
• Providing information to the external accountants who creates the financial statements
• Preparing and monitoring annual budgets with each enterprise manager
• Calculating variances from the budget and reporting significant issues to management
• General office duties Candidate Profile:
• Confident and direct Driver with own transport Flexible can-do attitude, willingness to learn and team player
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Good attention to detail
• Results orientated
• Articulate with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent Excel, databases and ability to pick up new software quickly
• Comfortable working in a livestock farming and commercial shoot environment Terms As there are a number of activities on the farm, this part-time Bookkeeper role can be adapted for the successful candidate and therefore they are seeking between 20-30 hours but they do need someone there every day, whether for 4, 5 or 6 hours. Full-time equivalent of c.£30k to be adjusted on a pro-rata basis for agreed hours (35 hour working week). Holiday entitlement 20 days plus bank holidays pro rata.
