London (EC2) (closest station: Liverpool Street) Reporting to: CFO We are looking for an experienced accountant to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies, procedures and IT systems. This Financial Controller would report into our CFO who works part-time, meaning the FC will be the senior finance representative within the office for part of the week, thus creating a great opportunity for someone looking for a step up in responsibility. We use in-house programming languages, optimised for fast and complex analysis of large trade volumes. Role Managing all finance and accounting operations. Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances. Preparing and publishing timely financial information for all areas of the business. Developing accounting systems and processes. Responsibilities Manage all current accounting operations and develop department, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting. Research technical accounting issues for compliance. Support month-end and year-end close process. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Work with internal IT department to develop systems to automate and streamline all processes where possible. Additional controller duties as necessary. Requirements Proven working experience as a Financial controller within a FinTech or Technology SME/Start-up. 5 years post qualification experience in a similar environment that gave wide experience to all aspects of the finance function. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Experience with creating financial statements. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process. Experience with VAT and payroll essential. Experience with taxation desirable. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills. Accounting qualification, preferably ACCA or ACA, but very experienced accountants with other qualifications should not be put off applying. Excellent excel skills. Proactive, positive attitude. Excellent attention to detail. The successful applicant will report to the CFO and will need to interact with all the departments in the business including the C-suite on a daily basis.
