Our client has been established in Hull for over 60 years and are now part of a wider group. Due to a restructure, they are looking to appoint a new Financial Controller to oversee their well-established finance team for a profitable branch in Hull. This is a self-managed role where you would oversee the whole finance function for the Hull site and report to the UK CFO who is based at their Head office in Birmingham. Acting as the main point of contact for all financial queries centrally, ensuring the quality and reliability of the financial reports as well as developing and maintaining the internal reporting infrastructure and managing the target and reforecast submissions for the UK Senior Operations Controller. On a daily basis, you could be managing the full profit and loss and balance sheet for the business, overseeing and producing monthly management accounts, cashflows, VAT returns, preparing statutory accounts, intrastate declarations as well as managing the audit. Forecasting and budgeting and being a key member of the management team along with looking at strategic planning for the business on a day to day basis. You may also need to create Management Information reports to be able to analyse and interpret the financial data for the branch. Providing these reports to the wider business, in order to look at profitability and performance with KPI tracking along with looking at the past, present and future MI. Having cash management control and treasury responsibilities as well as performing cost and variance analysis and suggesting actions to take for the business. That's why we are looking for a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA etc) who has worked at this level before within a similar type of role for an SME. Someone who enjoys working on their own initiative, supporting and developing a team along with strong Excel and database skills with the analytical mindset to match.
