The role owns the financial accounting function of the business ensuring all finances are properly accounted for, all financial returns are completed and deadlines achieved. To lead and coach the financial accounting team. To sustain and improve the Finance systems, reporting and processes. Duties include Provide routine and timely financial and other reports to the required degree of accuracy for submission to the Head of Finance as a fully reviewed final version. Be accountable for the integrity of the content of the company's books of accounts. To question the validity of the underlying assumptions, and to suggest and implement any necessary changes in order to strengthen the accounting information provided. Line manage, coach and develop the financial accounting and accounts payable team. Proposing any training and development needs and any structure changes that align to business strategic priorities. Manage the preparation, review and submission of all reporting required in line with the strict deadlines. Manage the Company's cash flow on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Be responsible for the financial IT applications, lead systems development, reviews and optimisation within finance, be the system administrator Review/maintain/upgrade the finance area of the intranet when appropriate. Overall responsibility for the preparation and completion of the annual statutory accounts. Acting as key contact for both internal and external audits. Manage the processes for the control of fixed assets, ensure the accuracy of the entries, ensure the valuations of newly completed beamlines are correct and prepare the reconciliation to statutory accounts. Working with the Head of Finance and all members of Finance to coordinate, support and report on relevant matters, ensuring optimised efficiency, consistency of approach, and sharing of best practices. Manage the company's banking and taxation arrangements. Manage VAT reporting and submission of returns To be considered for this role you will be a qualified accountant with solid experience across management and financial accounting - including the full completion of stat accounts. Equally you will have experience of managing a medium sized team and be able to demonstrate systems and process development.
