We also offer all employees free fruit and refreshments, discounted gym membership and a cycle to work scheme We are looking for a Finance Assistant support CHP and other group companies' day-to-day transactions including cashiering, banking, financial accounting and the running of the purchase and sales ledger function. Requirements Manage and maintain the daily cashiering and banking processes for CHP and other group companies to ensure good financial control; Oversee the daily and monthly bank reconciliations for all group companies, investigating any miscellaneous transactions and updating the cashflow forecasts; Prepare, using the accounting systems, and validate for accuracy the payments generated for the weekly creditor payment runs; Manage income payments to ensure they are accurately recorded on both the accounting and housing systems and prepare monthly reconciliations to check for anomalies; Manage the registration and processing of purchase invoices for the group, including accurate recording or deduction of taxes to assist in the timely payment of suppliers; Raise and issue requested sales invoices and credit notes on the sales ledger and invoicing system for ad-hoc, intercompany and cyclical sales; Maintain comprehensive records to support any financial transaction and assist the Finance Team with year-end preparations and audit; Promote continuous improvement by challenging existing ways of working, highlighting errors and potential financial risks and suggesting solutions to meet business needs; Assist in the production of performance statistics for monthly management accounts; Build effective relationships with external suppliers offering excellent customer service to address any queries or concerns regarding payments or invoices; Promote financial knowledge and understanding throughout the organisation, assisting internal stakeholders with payment queries, the raising of purchase orders and sales invoices; Assist the Financial Accounting Manager with financial accounting functions including reconciliations and the preparation of the group's Financial Statements; Work collaboratively to ensure there is appropriate cover for the team's workload by proactively identifying opportunities and supporting colleagues to achieve objectives; Undertake any other responsibilities relevant to this post, as directed by the Financial Accounting Manager. Qualifications Evidence of attainment of good literacy and numeracy, e.g. through GCSEs or equivalent, Grade C or above; Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Discreet; able to maintain confidentiality. A recognised, or actively working towards, an accounting qualification; Knowledge of fundamentals of accounting preferably within the housing sector; Experience of SUN accounts. Experience, knowledge and skills Experience of working in a finance environment including good working knowledge of accounting ledgers and producing reconciliations; Strong interpersonal skills with ability to engage with all levels of the organisation and build up good working relationships with external stakeholders; Good track record in producing highly accurate work to strict deadlines; Excellent working knowledge of ICT including experience of excel and other Microsoft office packages; Excellent communication skills; Ability to work pro-actively as part of a team to achieve objectives and manage conflicting priorities; Excellent organisation skills and able to manage own workload.
