Peabody has an opportunity for a Deputy Payroll Manager to join the team based in Pitsea. You will join us on a full time, fixed term basis of 6 months. In return, you will receive an hourly salary of £35,000 - £42,000 per annum. The Deputy Payroll Manager role: This role is a great opportunity for someone who has worked in a senior role in an organisation of significant size. The role will be pivotal to the delivery of a payroll function which has just been amalgamated following the merger of two large organisations. This will also involve a lot of business partnering to support the various departments in the business. Key duties of our Deputy Payroll Manager: - Oversee and support start to finish payroll processing including starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, pensions, employees loans, flexible benefits, union fees, court orders and any other ad hoc adjustments - Support to the payroll team to deliver a responsive, approachable and high quality service - Operate payroll procedures to ensure compliance and best practice is being utilised - Checking of trial pay runs and exception reports, making amendments where necessary - Assist the Payroll Manager with the reconciliation of the monthly payroll cycle and the preparation of reports for Director sign off - Manage the payroll team in absence of the Payroll Manager - Take responsibility for ensuring that all payroll costs are accounted for and reconciled in accordance with company policies and procedures - Provide accurate and timely management information on all aspects of payroll What we're looking for in our Deputy Payroll Manager : - Successful experience of full cycle payroll processing, including data input, submission, report filing and reconciliation using a payroll software package - Ability to produce manual payroll calculations with sound knowledge of tax and NI and other associated statutory deductions - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of pension scheme legislation and the operation of auto enrolment - Previous experience of supervising a payroll team - Experience of liaising with HMRC, internal and external auditors and other relevant third party providers - Good understanding of payroll accounting and how payroll interfaces with financial systems - Proficient in the use of Microsoft excel - v-lookups, pivot tables - Proven attention to detail and ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously - Ability to work independently, exercising good initiative and judgement - Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver excellent customer service - Previous experience of Core HR/ResourceLink an advantage If you feel have the skills and experience to become our Deputy Payroll Manager please click 'apply' now to be directed to our careers page and complete your application.
