Compliance Officer - Europe OPPORTUNITY Värde is looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong regulatory background to join our Compliance team in Europe. The role of Compliance Officer is an exciting opportunity to work for an energetic and fast-paced firm, and to be part of an experienced and professional Global Compliance & Legal team. The successful candidate will support the business predominantly in compliance matters for Europe, and will have the opportunity to: Play a key role in the continued development of the firm's Global Compliance function. Have direct interaction with in-house compliance and legal professionals, investment professionals, business professionals and certain external advisors. Report to the Global Chief Compliance Officer ("CCO") based in Minneapolis [with dotted reporting line to the Chief Counsel (registered CF10 and CF11) of Värde Partners Europe ("VPE"). Note: Expectation is this role/candidate will ultimately be the VPE CF10/CF11. Be responsible for Värde's compliance activities throughout Europe, including all aspects of regulatory compliance under the UK FCA. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain strong knowledge of laws, regulations and industry best practices in the compliance and regulatory arena for Europe that may impact Värde's business. Monitor and report on relevant developments in the compliance and regulatory arena and assist with the implementation of strategic and project plans to meet new compliance requirements. Assist with the planning and execution of Europe's compliance and regulatory programs including transactions and communications monitoring, testing, identifying opportunities for improvement and communicating value added recommendations. Serve as a resource for Värde staff regarding all aspects of the compliance activity. Assist the CCO in ensuring compliance with applicable laws/statutes, assisting in regulatory and compliance filing activities, reviewing fund activity to detect any potential compliance issues, and executing corrective actions to compliance issues. Assist with regulatory examinations, inquiries and other data requests. Deliver compliance training (as needed). Assist with restricted list matters related to Europe Ensure all FCA compliance authorizations are correct and up to date. Liaise with Accounting, HR and other relevant teams to prepare and submit regulatory filings. Fulfill other needs as they arise in Värde's fast-paced environment. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 4 years work experience in a compliance University degree class 2:1 or equivalent. Additional legal or compliance education and/or law degree is advantageous but not essential. Willingness to travel regularly in Europe.
