The Department: The Reed Business Information (RBI) finance department is a team of around 80 people located principally in Sutton and East Grinstead. The department is a busy and challenging environment to work in, suiting a candidate who has strong self-motivation, is proactive and has good technical and interpersonal skills. Job Purpose: We are currently recruiting for the position of Business Analyst within RBI's Planning and Reporting (P&R) team, based within RBI's finance department in Sutton. RBI is a global business, part of the RELX group - a FTSE-100 company. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and developing reports and analysis to support management in the accurate, timely and insightful reporting of business performance. The role will report to the Finance Manager Planning & Reporting and will also work closely with RBI's business partnering and accounting services teams. The P&R team has approximately four members, and the successful candidate will work on the tasks below, sharing responsibility for some of them with the other Business Analysts in the team. Key Accountabilities/

Responsibilities:
- Production of month-end P&L and Balance Sheet reporting packs for the RBI business and for individual market sectors, including analysis of data and reports to understand impact on individual markets and RBI as a whole, while meeting client expectations and deadlines and ensuring accuracy before distribution. - Preparation of monthly submissions of results for RELX. - Development and enhancement of financial reporting by continually working to identify improvements to existing reporting to meet the information demands of users. - Design and implementation of standardised reports, leading to the provision of extra insights into business performance, and making the reporting process more efficient and robust. - Development of sound first-pass expense budgets and reforecasts through collection of key data points, driver-based trend analysis and input from finance partners. - Drive smooth budget and reforecasting processes through close collaboration with business partners, challenging assumptions and having a good understanding of individual markets to ensure accurate forecasting. - Conduct ad-hoc analysis and problem solving on own initiative, securing relevant information and identifying key issues. Effective and clear communication of findings to manager and individuals inside and outside the finance department. - Production of presentations and other ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as requested by manager. Key Skills Required: - Strong attention to detail, thoroughness, accuracy and ability to self-review - Strong Excel skills ( Pivot Tables, Lookup, Sum ifs etc.) - Team player with Organisational awareness. - Excellent analytical skills, with keen ability to identify problem areas when looking at information, seeing patterns, trends or missing pieces, noticing when a current situation is similar to a past situation and identifies the similarities and questioning inconsistency in financial data elements. - Understands financial/accounting systems and software relevant to the role, as well as the relationships between the systems. - Ability to initiate change and be proactive in measures taken to achieve responsibilities, completing financial analysis without direction. - Ability to challenge the status quo and propose better solutions - conceptual thinking. - Ability to multi-task and prioritise workflow around tight deadlines - Ability to work well under pressure Experience Required: - Part-qualified with a recognised accountancy body or looking to gain an accounting qualification (study support may be provided to the successful candidate, in addition to the standard benefits package) - Experience working in a finance role - Experience of Hyperion Smart View would also be an advantage About Reed Business Information Reed Business Information (RBI) provides information, analytics and data to business professionals worldwide.
