FMCG Organisation urgently requires a Financial Planning Analyst to join the business on a temporary assignment. A high profile financial planning and analysis role, overseeing reporting and analysis to enable effective business decision support. Providing insightful analysis, commercial challenge and support, and overseeing the commercial reporting for the business, to ultimately drive improvement in business profitability. The Financial Planning Analyst will work closely with the Finance Director and Finance Manager, with primary focus areas around promotional analysis, customer and brand profitability analysis, monitoring advertising and promotional spends, and customer investment and new product development proposals. Duties of the Financial Planning Analyst include: Business, brand and customer profitability and performance analysis, at invoiced sales, net sales, gross margin and net contribution level. Provide timely and actionable analysis of current performance, and deliver insights on forward looking forecasts. To ensure the business has a thorough understanding of margin performance variances. Customer promotional spends analysis, including review and sign-off off customer promotional proposals, and running post-promotional evaluations. Customer pricing review and approvals. Thorough analysis and review of trade promotional spends, understanding current activities, and managing accruals generated by the Oracle Demantra system, and working with the Sales and Finance teams to monitor those accruals and costs arising to ensure accurate trade spend accounting. Month-end accounting support around those accruals Monitoring of future business P&L forecasts and projections to ensure forward plans are in line with forecast and budgets. Key role in driving the build of the annual financial operating plan (AOP), robusting and challenging the bottom up builds at brand / customer / sku level from the sales and marketing teams. Oversee business commercial reporting, ensuring consistent delivery of required financial performance reporting. Support to the sales and marketing teams with customer investment proposals, and supporting the business development team in building commercial proposals for new product initiatives. Key user of the business' Oracle forecasting and trade promotional management system Initially managing one Commercial Analyst, with potential to expand the team going forward Ad hoc business and commercial analysis as requested by the business Experience/Skills required for the Financial Planning Analyst: A qualified accountant, with experience in a commercial finance role in an FMCG environment. Experience of people management PREFERRED OR REQUIRED Full understanding of accruals process with FMCG customers. Practical experience of providing insightful business analysis and delivering commercial challenge to sales and marketing teams. Experience of working in an FMCG environment is preferable. Relevant knowledge and experience of accounting practices and standards. Microsoft Office experience, strong Excel skills SAP experience is preferable. Exceptional commercial sense, ability to see bigger picture in key business transactions whilst producing accurate and timely financial information. Understanding of sales and marketing activities within an FMCG environment. Drive and self-motivation, the ability to get on with tasks at hand without supervision. A hands-on team player, necessary in a small company environment. Effective communication skills, and the ability to work well with others at all levels across functions The ability to work to tight timescales and deadlines.
