The focus of the role will be to provide leadership and technical support to ensure HSE compliance. Provide expert technical support to ensure regulatory compliance, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting for the site. Lead compliance auditing, assessment and training as a part of the continuous improvement processes. Provide leadership, and direction for the interpretation and implementation of new or revised legislation. Participate in the implementation of projects with EHS components. Manage projects focused on Environmental improvements with a focus on employee health and wellbeing, the environment and sustainability. Maintain in-depth knowledge of, and technical expertise in, health, safety and environmental legislation and practices affecting our clients operations Monitor and participate in the development of new regulations and emerging regulatory issues. Build and maintain knowledge of current and emerging HSE technologies. Identify non-compliances, determine solutions and monitor and record achievement of compliance. Obtain and maintain the currency of all requisite permits and licenses. Develop, maintain and monitor a comprehensive HSE compliance database including but not limited to health and safety and environmental legislation, programs and permits. Establish and implement appropriate monitoring. Maintain comprehensive records and documentation of environmental monitoring and reporting. Coordinate and participate in emergency response actions as part of the rotating HSE on-call notification system. Candidate Requirements: Master degree in an engineering and/or HSE related discipline and more than 5 years of related experience; or bachelor of science degree in an engineering and/or HSE related discipline and more than 10 years of related experience. Experience in the interpretation and application of HSE legislation in general and the legislation and codes applicable to our clients operations. Experience working with regulatory agencies is required. Experience in information management and databases Strong understanding of waste minimization and sustainability techniques Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, demonstrated ability to manage portfolio of activities in a systematically. Works with minimal supervision; able to work under pressure to competing demands and stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping; PC literate in particular Microsoft Office packages: Word, Excel and PowerPoint (ideally SAP); Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong communicator, friendly and amiable in approach; Accurate and efficient; Positive CAN DO ATTITUDE and a strong sense of urgency; Strong mind set for continuous improvement; Takes ownership of tasks/jobs; Capable of finding workable solutions, particularly when changes are required to working practices.
