Eden Scott's client is one of the world's leading Academic institutions who are synonymous with innovation, academic brilliance and driving the economy of the City of Edinburgh. This role is to help the University of a period of time where there is considerable upheaval and change in the team. For the next 2 years they are undergoing a period of rapid transformation within the business including the implementation of a new ERP system and a complex and challenging Finance Transformation Programme. The aim of this programme is to make the University's finance function customer focused and to drive greater efficiencies and processes. In this role you will lead and deliver the Annual Audit under the current year-end process, undertake process change and business transformation duties and then lead on the new Annual Auditing process in 2020. You will also perform a BAU role around managing a team of 8 in total including qualified and non-qualified accountants. The focus of this team is to deliver Group Financial Statements, Statutory returns and other published papers which are used for internal and external publishing. This is a managerial and leadership role in the context of the structure and so will have a wide range of abilities including: technical skills, management skills, thought leadership and business change and transformation. We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience; Professionally qualified CA, CPFA, ACCA or other technical training gained in either a professional services firm OR in large and complex business. Demonstrably strong people management skills, you will manage a team of 4 direct reports and 8 in total, you will have excellent experience in this regard. Solid experience gained in the context of a large and complex business with various moving parts. Statutory Reporting, Group Reporting and Annual Reporting technical expertise along with demonstrable track record of delivering Annual Audits. All of the information your team produces is published externally in the annual report, experience of reporting information that is used for these purposes is preferred. We are looking for someone who is available no later than with a month's notice but preferably immediately available to start. The time commitment is for 18 months so that you can deliver these annual processes for 2019 and 2020.
