The purpose of this role is to work closely with the CFO and the Head of Finance. The Financial Controller will have primary responsibility for implementing the processes, procedures, working practices and support model for the day to day running of the Finance Department. About us Our client is a Challenger bank based in the City offering savings products and finance for UK commercial and residential real estate, in addition to sourcing and advising on UK real estate investments with a focus on the build to rent sector. Key responsibilities Implementation of robust and automated processes within the accounting system to include cost reporting, budgeting and management reporting; To provide the CFO and Head of Finance with weekly income and cost forecasting as well as analysis where appropriate. Periodical monitoring of the balance sheet (including commentary, analysis and reconciliation process); GL maintenance (including journal processing and review, close process and reconciliations); Overseeing the Accounts Payable function; Overseeing the daily P&L function; Monthly management reporting pack including business related KPIs for value-add analysis; Annual audit files and liaising with external auditors, internal auditors and other audit and oversight requirements; Production of annual statutory accounts; Tax computations and VAT returns; Attendance at Operating Committee, Asset & Liability Committee and Executive Committee when required; To develop (where necessary) and maintain up to date department manuals, policies and procedures. To review and revise the document suite every 6 months or as and when required by the business. All documents to be available for inspection (internal and / or external) upon request. All policies and procedures must be imbedded into department's processes and implemented at all times. Responsibility for ensuring the adequacy of the financial control environment in respect of the accuracy and integrity of the financial information; Responsibility for maintaining the systems and controls required for the timely and accurate production of all financial MI. Skills required ACA qualification, preferably with a background in the financial services of a 'Big Four' firm; Solid background in Retail Banking, Treasury, Securities and Exchange Traded Derivative products; Knowledge of commercial loans would be an advantage.
