This interim Finance Manager's job in Edinburgh with a leading firm of lawyers is a great opportunity for an experience Finance Manager or Financial Controller to support the business for a period of up to 18 months, whilst covering for maternity leave. The firm is one of Scotland's largest, and is renowned for excellence and innovation, supporting clients not just domestically but also overseas. As Interim Finance Manager, you will assume full responsibility for the management accounting process. This will include reviewing the monthly management accounts pack, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and all variances against budget are investigated and understood. Furthermore, as Interim Finance Manager, you'll prepare the statutory accounts for the firm, liaising with external auditors and other stakeholders as required, answering any queries that they may have. Another key component of the role will be the production of the annual budget which will naturally include regular liaison with divisional heads to agree revenue and cost targets. The role also sees you assume responsibility for the day to day management of the finance team - currently a team of 4. As Finance Manager, you'll provide the necessary support the team requires, and act as an escalation point as and when necessary. A key component of this will be the management of the Credit Control team and ensuring debts are under control and that all proper procedures are followed. To be successful, it is envisaged that you will be an experienced Finance Manager, ideally from a legal firm or other professional services firm). Your ability to communicate clearly with non-finance personnel is crucial, as is your ability to multi-task and handle competing demands.
