Permanent Purchase Ledger - Based in Stoke Fantastic, global company up to £19500 per annum

Your new company
Your new company are a global market leader in their field, based in Stoke on Trent and are looking for a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your new role
Your new role will be working in a finance department of 40 heads, working within the Purchase Ledger core team of 3 reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager. Your role with include but not be limited to;

  • Accurate and timely input of all Purchase Ledger invoices into the accounting system and the procurement system where required. This will ensure timely and accurate payment of suppliers.
  • Post purchase ledger invoices to 38 entities.
  • Accuracy and a good eye for detail are key. You will be the first line of defence on spotting errors on entity, coding, currencies, VAT code selection, correct supplier account selection.
  • Ensuring invoices are marked as held where not approved on receipt.
  • Liaise with procurement team to smooth issues between purchasing and accounting systems.
  • Scanning of all invoices for entry into systems as appropriate.
  • Involvement in weekly payment runs for up to 20 entities, pulling out invoices from to be paid file into payment runs.
  • Supplier statement reconciliations, ensuring follow up actions are complete where invoices are missing.
  • Control of contractor weekly / monthly invoices, including maintaining control spreadsheet, and liaising with contractors or agencies for missing invoices or time sheets


What you'll need to succeed

  • Purchase Ledger experience required including entering invoices in multi-currency and multi company organisations.
  • Experience of processing Purchase Ledger invoices in a high volume / high value Purchase Ledger.
  • Excellent data entry skills - good speed with high levels of accuracy required.
  • VAT experience - at the minimum knowledge of UK VAT, experience with overseas VAT would be advantageous. Understanding/experience of UK blocked input tax rules and UK output tax rules. Experience of the accounting impact of VAT requirements (ie zero rating, reduced rate, reverse charge etc)
  • Attention to detail.
  • SunSystems / Proactis experience would be advantageous.
  • Good Microsoft Excel knowledge.
  • Strong effective communicator in writing and in interpersonal communication.


What you'll get in return
You will receive a salary of up to £19,500, a fantastic working environment, working hours of 8:30am-5pm Monday to Friday, 20 days holiday plus bank holidays - rising to 25 for each year of service.
