Job Description This is a part timepost and the salary will be pro rata to the number of hours worked. This is a fixed term post until 31/05/2021 West Dunbartonshire Council are seeking a proactiveand self-motivatedperson to join our DevelopmentManagement Team as Planning Compliance Officer. WestDunbartonshire Council is one of the smallest planningauthorities in Scotland, and our small DevelopmentManagement Team handles a varied and challengingcaseload of planning applications. The Planning Compliance Officer will play a key rolewithin the team in ensuring that development is carriedout in accordance with its planning permission, and thatunauthorised development is identified and responded toappropriately. You will be responsible for investigatingand resolving a broad range of planning compliance andenforcement cases, in accordance with the servicestandards set out in our Enforcement Charter. Mostbreaches of planning control are resolved throughnegotiation, but in situations where formal enforcementproceedings are appropriate you will gather evidencewhere necessary, and prepare and serve the relevantstatutory notices. You are likely to be either an experienced Town Planner,or to have extensive experience of working in aninvestigatory or enforcement environment such aspolicing or statutory compliance. You should haveexcellent communication and customer service skills,including the ability to deal with developers andobjectors who will often have strong and conflictingviews, and who may be unhappy with planning decisions. A significant proportion of your time will be spent visitingdevelopment sites, and the ability to drive would beadvantageous. The Council operates a paper lightofficeenvironment, and you should have good IT skills and theability to keep thorough and accurate records.
