Competitive Contract: Permanent About the Role: A leading manufacturer in medical devices based in Coventry is looking for a Senior Finance Manager to join a busy finance team. Senior Finance Manager duties to include : Upskill and develop the finance team to ensure that they have the required skills and knowledge to support the company in delivering its strategic goals. Supervise, review and take overall responsibility for all financial transactions. Maintain clear delegated authority mandates (including banking, payment authorisation, general ledger access) approved by directors where necessary. Ensure that all financial processes operate effectively and efficiently using the latest available technology and automation. Modernise working practices to bring the company in line with our customers and competitors. Maintain overview documentation of all processes to demonstrate appropriate controls. Carry out regular audits to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement and deliver actions to address them. Ensure that the management team and other budget holders have sufficient training and information to make informed decisions that are commercially beneficial to the organisation. Manage the relationship with key advisors including bankers, tax advisors, auditors, insurance brokers, pensions advisors. Ensure that the department and the whole business operates in compliance with any UKGAAP and HMRC legislation and keeps up to date with any legislative changes Plan, timetable, manage and direct cash flow forecasting, the management accounts process, the year-end reporting process, the statutory accounts process, the reforecasting process, the annual budget process, the capital expenditure plan. This includes the numbers, commentary, assumptions and identification of risks and opportunities for reporting to the management board. Drive continual process improvement within finance and throughout the business by facilitating best value Kaizen activity, doing sums to support the prioritisation of activity. Support long term business strategy by: providing estimates for costs of new products, challenging business cases to determine which investments will result in best value cost reduction providing profit by product analysis. providing profit by customer analysis for key customers. Key skills / abilities: Relevant Financial Qualification is essential e.g. fully qualified CIMA Robust knowledge of double entry accounting is essential. Up to date knowledge of relevant HMRC legislation is essential. A record of successfully delivering process improvements, efficiencies or cost savings is essential. Good communication skills, with the ability to translate financial requirements for managers and budget holders are essential. Ability to get on with and influence people internally to achieve objectives is essential. Ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team is essential. Proactive attitude and ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure is essential. Commercial awareness is essential. Experience of managing a small team is essential. Prior experience of Sage 50 Accounts would be very valuable. Experience of VAT documentation requirements for exporting goods is beneficial. Strong familiarity with management accounting as well as financial accounting techniques employed in a multiproduct environment is beneficial. Experience of working with managers in a business partnering role is beneficial. Experience of working with an overseas group where local statutory accounting policies are not necessarily the same as group reporting requirements is beneficial. Experience of working within a Quality / Compliance environment is beneficial.
