Finance Analyst

Salary circa £25k - £35k depending on experience

We are looking to recruit a Finance Analyst responsible for creating and developing KPI reporting, performance and variance analysis, leading the budgeting process, forecasting and assisting with month and quarter end reporting.

This role covers day visits, memberships, F&B, retail and Short Breaks offer across two wild animal parks and business partners directly with the commercial team and operational teams to provide insightful business analysis.

About the Role

  • Office based at Port Lympne Reserve, Lympne, Kent.
  • Suit part or newly qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
  • Support available to continue studies
  • Part of a small finance team, reporting to the Finance Director

Job description

Proactive support to the Finance Director, commercial teams and Sales & Marketing in respect of analysing business performance and assisting in the recommendation / decision process

Finance Reporting

  • Detailed analysis; Sales, Margin, Categories, along with findings and recommendations
  • Producing supporting reports to monthly management accounts; ensure an accurate P&L, analyse variances, highlight risks and opportunities, provide a clear understanding of performance to all key stakeholders
  • Ad hoc assistance with the Investment Analysis for new business cases and post-completion reviews in respect of capital projects
  • Daily & weekly visitor number and revenue reviews

Reporting & Analytical Support to Business Partners

  • Monitoring key KPI’s, identifying underlying issues, trends and opportunities and providing detailed analysis
  • Building new reports & dashboards, identify and recommend reporting software to enable smarter business decisions and greater access to data
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for improving financial and business performance within the retail units (pricing, range, sales mix, spend, margins, space planning)
  • Promotional Analysis - pre and post activity financial review and supporting reports
  • Provision and maintenance of both standard and one-off reports to enable decision support

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Monthly internal forecasts, quarterly formal forecasts, targets for trading departments (Sales, Transactions, Spend per Head £, GP %, Wages)
  • Analysis of growth opportunities
  • Bottom-up budgeting process

Your experience

  • Qualified or part qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
  • Financial analysis – experience of modelling and analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with business intelligence software and IT systems
  • Ability and confidence to provide proactive support and advice to multiple business partners
  • Ability to communicate and present financial data to non-finance personnel
  • Proven ability of working within a fast-paced environment, able to prioritise and effectively manage workload
  • Analytical background within a leisure and hospitality business environment desirable
  • Background in leisure and hospitality environment; visitor attraction / short breaks / hotel experience desirable
