Our client is a long-standing UK based investment firm, specialising in impact investing. They are looking for maternity cover for a 12 month fixed term contract. This role is responsible for the production of group statutory accounts and oversight over all financial and portfolio accounting. There will be one direct report, and the role is known to touch across other parts of the business including VAT, system and control process improvement etc. Typical duties include: Leading the production of year-end and half-year consolidated financial statements for the Group and UK subsidiaries; liaising with external auditors; taking ownership of the accounts for presentation at meetings, and in readiness for external publication; review of monthly bank reconciliations, revaluations and balance sheet reconciliations for group companies; monthly review of office trial balance; reviewing ARF notices for investments; reviewing portfolio cash flow transactions; processing quarterly fund reports; preparation and review of quarterly equity valuation templates; reconciliation of the quarterly portfolio allocation report to the general ledger; quarterly VAT return submissions; and Assisting with testing and reconciliation of portfolio accounting of the new implemented system. The applicant must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 5 years of post qualified experience within a financial services industry. Very strong technical accounting skills are essential, and consolidation experience is desirable. Experience in working within a fund preparing both statutory accounts and fund accounts would be highly desirable, although having one or the other would suffice with a preferred weighting on the statutory account experience.
