The Role Reporting primarily to the Group Systems & Reporting Manager and Group Financial/Operational Financial Controllers, you will enjoy a varied role covering both Statutory and Operational reporting duties. This is a newly created position, which will present opportunities to make the role your own and develop your skill sets. This role will be based in Essex and Hertfordshire. Operational Reporting Cambria produce a wide range of internal reporting to assist the operational teams in optimising their business and to highlight areas that require attention. This reporting covers working capital, departmental profitability, divisional and inter-franchise comparisons, and KPI monitoring. We are currently in the process of leveraging new technologies to improve the speed, quality and accuracy of these reports. We also wish to expand our existing reports to provide new insights to senior management. Your responsibilities here initially will be to produce the regular weekly and monthly reporting, develop an understanding of the data structures and processes behind them, and identify and investigate any issues or answer management queries on an ongoing basis. You will also be responsible for collating various returns from Branch Financial Controllers, ensuring all are submitted in line with Group policy and checked for accuracy where required. There are also frequent requests from the Operational Board and other Senior Managers for ad-hoc analysis, which you may become involved with as your understanding of the Cambria structure improves. Statutory Reporting Your role here will be to support the Group Financial Controller in meeting the various reporting deadlines to HMRC and public bodies including the ONS, OFT etc, as well as undertaking ad-hoc tasks including bank liaison and payment authorisation. The year-end audit will present many opportunities to add value. The Person We are seeking somebody with a solid foundation in a finance role, potentially an Assistant Accountant, ideally having worked in or currently working in the motor trade. Experience of the regular monthly accounting processes and disciplines within a dealership is highly desirable. Strong IT skills including Excel, an interest in learning new technologies, and a flair for process improvement are essential. Any knowledge of Pinnacle DMS software/SQL/Microsoft Power Pivot/Power Query/Power BI will offer you a significant advantage. This role will give you insight and access to the entire financial workings of the business, so discretion and a high level of attention to detail is a prerequisite. There is significant scope to get involved in project work for the right person. Training can be provided where necessary for the right candidate.
