Are you a Qualified by Experience financial controller looking for your next role in the SW London area? Would you like to play an important role in the growth and direction of a small but growing business? If so then read on I am delighted to have been retained by a well established reputable "up-market" ceramic and porcelain tiling importer who has leased showrooms in two locations. As well as this, my client also sells tiles into the commercial specification market, both in the UK and some non-UK clients. It has its leased head office premises, and an Architectural Showroom in Fulham. The role has a wide brief, of ensuring that the company, its management and staff are well served concerning: Financial reporting and control (Encore systems and Excel) Stock control systems Other working capital controls Margin management Overhead cost and efficiency External and internal communications systems - telephone and I.T. Health and safety Involvement in HR advice & HR systems Office and property administration Warehouse and stock management Ad hoc management tasks as appropriate Specifically, the role is one which demands from the individual :
• the financial control, communication and management skills to manage the accounting function so that this small department is properly able to achieve its tasks and keep other management informed at the right level at the right times, with appropriate reporting of key financial issues about the business,
• an enthusiasm for IT issues (but with support from outsourced IT supplier),
• thinking "big picture" in relation to the best options for a wider horizon, and
• thinking at the micro level also, particularly in relation to overhead cost management, margin optimisation, and good control of cash,
• thinking across a broad spectrum of issues,
• balancing priorities;
• delegating and managing effectively, both to employed staff and subcontractors and consultants;
• hiring and motivating staff, and consultants;
• agreeing, and contributing to, priorities and targets with other senior management, and the directors;
• operating effectively with enthusiasm and optimism, approaching new demands and challenges in an open and "can do" manner;
• operating within the team environment so as to ensure that the "internal clients" of the organisation feel listened to, and well served
• planning, budgeting and negotiating resource to allow agreed tasks and objectives to be achieved on target
