£43,200 - £65,500 depending on skills and experience car/cash allowance annual bonus Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week Our Role The purpose of this role is to provide assurance to the Performance Director and the Head of Assurances that all areas of Networks business have a rigorous and effective approach to risk management and are being actively managed within the business. As Risk Manager, you will work closely with Networks leaders to manage and maintain the relevant risk registers, frameworks and reporting systems. To do this, you will work closely with Networks leaders, other regulatory and risk teams within SSE and relevant external regulatory bodies as required. As a key member of the Assurance leadership team, you will share collective responsibility for delivering the strategy, ensuring targets are understood and driving performance across the specified business areas of Networks to ensure its future success. You will ensure Compliance with Risk Management Procedures including LCP Governance Framework and Transformational Governance Framework where appropriate and maintain and develop the Risk Management Portal. As the Networks business begins development of its submission for RIIO-2 price controls the Risk Manager will work closely with the Assurance Team to develop and maintain the risk management process required by the regulator for all future submissions. You are expected to lead, develop, coach, motivate and empower the Risk Management team to deliver and perform to their full potential within a positive but challenging environment which encourages people to succeed and excel. This includes acting as a positive role model for all employees, ensuring that they are supported, developed and rewarded for their efforts, and encouraged to operate in line with the SSE Values. This includes responsibility for maintaining and establishing open, honest and positive communication and engagement channels to ensure that the team are aware of, fully understand and can effectively implement decisions which drive business performance. An additional aspect to the role is to maintain all element of key Crisis Management controls associated with Networks key risks including Cyber Security, Black Start, Demand Control and Extreme Weather events. Vital to this role is the management of our 'Silver Command' process and continually improving the process from the outputs of managed exercising and industry changes. Taking a lead in developing 'Gold Command' roles and responsibilities of Networks Leaders to ensure the they can support the SSE Group during significant crisis events. Your Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will have previous knowledge and understanding of UK legal and regulatory risk environments, including statutory licence regulations and operating licence conditions and a strong understanding and previous experience of risk management with the ability to advise on the development and application of effective risk management. In addition to the above, you will have a good understanding of the operation of electricity distribution and transmission networks along with proven risk management skills with relevant experience / academic qualifications. You will have the ability to translate Group Policy and Corporate Governance Code requirements and embed into Business process and controls. Due to the nature of this role, proven experience of influencing and negotiating skills are essential along with excellent stakeholder management skills. You will also have experience in the use of the Office365 toolset.
