Competitive plus Benefits Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week Our Role This is an exciting new role for an experienced Financial Controller, to join SSE Telecoms, to manage the operations and activities of the business with oversight on AR & AP, ownership of the tax and treasury work performed at SSE Corporate under a MSA. The Financial Controller should manage the team effectively and independently for efficient service delivery regarding accounting postings, period end closing, and financial, management and statutory reporting activities. The Financial Controller reviews general ledger postings performed by team, performs certain own postings, reviews closing and reporting work performed by team as well as be available to answer ad hoc questions or closing requests by the Business. You will effectively lead a team of accounting staff in a highly technical, operational accounting environment. Development and guidance of team members regarding the accurate and timely execution of tasks and delivery of information is essential to progress of the team and you will act as a coa c h & mentor. Providing accounting support for specific projects & bids and any related activities at an entity level, such as preparation of acquisition completion accounts, new products, chart of account changes, requesting updates to reports as a result of new cost centres, working with advisors on technical accounting is key to this role. Your Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified accountant in an operational finance role with exposure to issues of similar complexity. You will be an ambitious individual who can lead from the front with a view to stepping up to a Finance Director role in due course with a proven track record of developing, motivating and leading a diverse team. You will have excellent knowledge of current regulations including IFRS/new UK GAAP, Companies Acts, Regulatory Licences etc and a strong knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures You will be proficient in MS Office applications, particularly excel and an in depth knowledge of ERP software (Oracle desirable) Our Company SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy and Private Networks business of SSE plc.
