I am pleased to be partnering with one of the most recognised retail businesses based in the South West who are looking for a Finance Analyst to join their Commercial Finance team. This role will be based out of their Taunton office and will require someone to have had experience within Management Accounts, producing detail budgets/forecasts and variance analysis.

This role will be based out of their Taunton office and will require someone to have had experience within Management Accounts, producing detail budgets/forecasts and variance analysis.

As a business, they're main focus is ensuring their staff are at the forefront and therefor are keen to provide fantastic exposure within this initial role and progression opportunities.

Description

Key responsibilities of the Finance Analyst:

  • Accurate reporting of the business area's financial performance on a weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual basis
  • Preparing detailed annual budgets and forecasts for the business area
  • Delivering value added analysis, insight and business performance improvement to support in driving the group's profitability under the supervision of team management
  • Starting to develop relationships with management team stakeholders, supporting team management to provide day to day support to the business
  • Upholding a continuous improvement mindset and seeking opportunities to drive positive change in finance and/or business processes to improve efficiency, maximise value for money and improve stakeholder experience
  • Working collaboratively with business area and other cross-functional teams
  • Ownership of periodic review of the key balance sheet accounts and presentation to Head/Director of finance.
  • Assisting and cover for the periodic preparation of the Group consolidation and associated management information.
  • Assisting in periodic preparation of balance sheet review pack for CFO.
  • Ability to explain cost variances actual to forecast performance.
  • Responsible for collation and review of central head office costs packs and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for a number of cost centres, carrying out month end journals, reconciliations and quarterly forecasts.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with IFRS 9.
  • Project work and ad hoc analysis as required.

Profile

The successful Candidate:

  • (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) - Finalist
  • Numerate and analytical
  • Financial modelling, planning and forecasting techniques and management accounts experience
  • Ability to apply accounting principles to all aspects of financial accounting
  • Ability to execute process change and transformation initiatives
  • Thorough understanding of Finance systems
  • A good understanding of retail and the business capabilities concerned
  • Understands the impact of Finance on day to day operations
  • Awareness and understanding of business strategy
  • Gathers influence from external sources to improve knowledge and introduce new ideas
  • Enjoys a challenge
