About the Early Intervention Foundation

The Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) is a young, dynamic and ambitious charity established in 2013 to champion and support the use of effective early intervention to improve the lives of children and young people at risk of experiencing negative outcomes. As a member of the government's What Works Network, EIF has a pivotal role as the go-to source for evidence and advice on early intervention for children and young people. We have a responsibility to communicate 'what works' in a way that is robust and transparent in its use of evidence, and also relevant and accessible for national and local audiences, including policymakers, public service commissioners and managers, and frontline practitioners and service providers. Our work extends across a range of social policy and service areas, including health, education, families and policing. EIF is funded through grants and contracts with a range of organisations, including central government departments, local authorities, non-departmental bodies, research organisations and the voluntary sector.

Your role

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources the post holder will take charge in a practical sense, of the finances of the organisation. Key responsibilities will include all transactional, monthly and year end reporting as well as preparing monthly management reports. The organisation manages multiple complex projects concurrently and the post holder will be responsible for financial monitoring and associated reporting to funders. Complex analysis of restricted funds makes this a challenging and varied job in which the post-holder will need to fully understand the business and its work. There is scope to make a real difference by improving systems and processes. The postholder will also line manage a Projects Co-ordinator, working together on the risks and issues that will impact on the delivery of projects and maintaining the internal project governance systems. Other aspects of the role include supporting the development of the understanding of financial management across EIF.

You will

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant and will have the ability to run the finance department and improve its systems relatively independently. You are likely to have worked with senior stakeholders and be confident presenting financial information and commentary. A commitment to continual improvement must be evident and you will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a very dynamic and challenging environment.

What you will get in return

This is a fabulous role for someone who is looking to use a wide spectrum of skill in a stimulating environment. The role offers some flexibility regarding hours of work - 9.00 to 17.00 or 9.30 to 17.30 and there will be scope to work from home one day per week once you are established. Benefits include 30 days holidays and pension - full details of all benefits will be provided.
