Finance Manager - Fixed Term contract (up to 1 year) Hours - 3 days per week, 21 hours working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Salary - Up to £33,300 per annum full time equivalent, depending on experience Location - Catford SE6 2EJ Crownsavers credit union is a not-for-profit financial co-operative. We provide savings and affordable loans to our members. We launched our services in 1997. Since then, we have grown to play an integral role in our working community. Originally known as Lewisham Employees' Credit Union, Crownsavers began by offering services to Lewisham Council. Since 2017, Crownsavers' services have been available to anyone employed in the London SE postcode. We conduct our business in a way that is ethical and contributes to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the communities we serve. We aim to help people to be in control of their personal finances. We re-invest the money we generate from loan's interest to provide services to our members. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager. In this post you will be working closely with the CEO and be responsible for the all the financial and budgetary requirements for the Credit Union office. Key deliverables for the role are as follows;
• Setting and monitoring financial objectives, in line with business plan
• Preparation of monthly financial accounts
• Preparation of Annual Budgets
• Processing & preparation of quarterly financial returns
• Preparation of Monthly management account
• Preparation of Year end accounts - Liaising with auditors
• Managing bank balances on a weekly basis and arranging bank transfers to optimise interest earned on surplus funds
• Sourcing and recommending new investment opportunity to our funds to maximise our income from interest
• Bank statement reconciliation
• Provide accurate and timely monthly management accounts and explanatory narrative to CEO, Board and Crownsavers CU Finance committee/Treasurer - (income and expenditure, balance sheet and cash flow forecasting)
• Provide support to the Board and CEO in respect of compliance with all statutory and legal reporting requirements and activities, ensuring accurate and timely information and analysis
• Support the board with strategic financial decisions including in relations to investments and new products or services.
• Ensure daily bank activities and other related financial processing and administration are completed accurately and in a timely manner, liaising with CEO and other staff to ensure procedures are followed
• Monitor and investigate entries on the member suspense account to ensure balance is kept to a minimum in line with audit requirements
• Review loans and enable loan process to continue in the absence of the Loan Officer
• Provide financial information and support daily in preparation of annual budgets in line with the business plan with monitoring and review of budgets on a regul ar basis. We are looking for a strong communicator who has a good eye for detail. We seek to appoint an enthusiastic individual with a broad working knowledge of Financial and Accounting processes and systems. Previous financial services experience is preferred. As a small team we will rely upon a quick-thinking team working individual with an aptitude to resolve daily operational challenges and also able to multi task, whilst always having a focus on the needs of our members. Knowledge and skills required;
• AAT qualified or equivalent
• Experience of preparing of Financial Accounts to trial balance and above
• Experience of maintaining computerised finance records
• Working knowledge of accounting system
• Using and developing spreadsheet
