Commodities desk strats use their quantitative and scientific training to solve complex business problems. We create cutting-edge derivative instruments and pricing models, provide insight into market behavior via statistical modeling, measure risk of our trading positions, and identify market opportunities. We also build scalable software infrastructure to keep track of our trading activities and market data flow around the world in real time and facilitate quick decision making. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL You will be a Lead Commodity Desk Strategist Focused on Non-Flow Business with team-management responsibilities. Key Strategic Projects include: Oil & Structured Finance - Lead uplift of core infrastructure ("PIPT 2.0") to support more advanced lending activity - Work with global team to improve risk reporting, pnl and analytics European Gas and Power - Migration of power shape risk & volatility models to EMEA markets from US markets - Development of GS's EMEA retail power offering - Development of imbalance risk management power offering - Expansion of emission trading business Base Metals and Emissions - Lead uplift of improvements to modelling of our risk, pnl, and analytics around implied storage positions - In addition to above strategic projects, you will support bespoke risk analytics, modelling, and quantitative analysis related to structured transactions to be entered into as a part of our EMEA commodities business SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR - Strong academic record with Bachelor's degree, above or equivalent in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or a related quantitative discipline required - Significant Commodities Strategy experience gained from working within investment banking/financial services industries required - Experience with software development in finance-related projects required - Willingness to learn and use proprietary technologies/scripting languages required - Experience with risk management, analytics, research and financial reporting required - Strong programming skills with knowledge of C/C++, Python, Java and Matlab required - Experience with design/implementation of relative value trading strategies required - Proficiency with MS office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required - Experience with financial/mathematical modelling including pricing models and stochastic models required - Strong stakeholder/client relationship management skills with client advisory experience required - Demonstrable team leadership skills - Excellent communication (verbal and written) required - Must be a collaborative team-player ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm that provides a wide range of financial services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and individuals.
