The employer is a leading global investment company. Leading the provision of a comprehensive tax advisory service to the existing UK and overseas funds including overseeing consultancy support on the set up of new funds and changes to existing funds Leading the provision of tax technical support to assist the business in understanding and monitoring the tax impact and requirements for investing, and distributing products, in new and existing territories to ensure that tax risks and opportunities in relation to the funds are identified, and tax obligations for the funds are met Overseeing effective coordination of activities with other areas of tax support for the global product range, including tax colleagues in offices outside the UK and tax colleagues aligned to specific asset classes Ensuring effective oversight of tax compliance and reporting activities in respect of the fund range, including management of outsource providers Ensuring effective monitoring and understanding of tax obligations arising from the investment activities of the funds, including advisory support to investment management teams, maintaining tax controls over fund access to markets and instruments, and oversight of processes to ensure funds meet their investment and market level tax obligations Ensuring the maintenance and development of an effective tax risk and controls framework for the business Establishing and maintaining internal tax policies and procedures and coordinating with colleagues globally on such matters, where appropriate As part of the tax management team, developing strategic plans for the ongoing development of the tax department Ensure the provision of effective tax advisory support across the SLA global fund range, including maintaining effective coordination with overseas tax and operational colleagues Ensure the provision of effective tax support to the Product teams on new propositions, rationalisations and mergers, coordinating external advisors as necessary Supervision and development of team members providing applicable feedback, coaching and guidance Work closely with tax colleagues in overseas offices or aligned to specific asset classes to ensure consistency of approach, sharing of knowledge and effective risk coverage for the product range globally Working with corporate and international tax advisory colleagues, ensure effective provision of tax support on organic and inorganic business growth and change initiatives as required Ensure effective controls and processes are in place to identify and manage all applicable tax risks and obligations in relation to the funds and investment universe, ensuring support is provided as required to the business where these controls and processes sit in operational areas Ensure processes to actively manage outsourced service arrangements exist so as to ensure that service providers meet key deliverables Ensure effective support is provided to the business with understanding and monitoring the tax impact and requirements for the fund range for investing, and distributing products, in new and existing territories Maintain thorough understanding of the fund and investment range to ensure that all relevant tax issues are identified and any opportunities to enhance post-tax returns for investors are highlighted and considered Keep up to date with relevant UK and overseas taxation changes that affect the fund range and advise business areas of any implications that may arise Ensure tax risks arising from the interaction of the funds and the investment manager are identified and managed, and facilitate effective support as required on other tax issues impacting the investment manager Together with other senior tax colleagues, review and develop the tax strategy and risk framework for the product range Work closely with other tax colleagues to ensure tax issues relevant to other business areas in the group are understood and considered as part of the above activities Understand best practice and ensure industry representation for SLA as appropriate with external stakeholders, including applicable industry bodies Work with key stakeholders to ensure that both ongoing needs and ad hoc requests are met in a timely and appropriate manner Strong preference for action and flexibility Problem analysis skills People management experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail Organisational skills Background in asset management or financial services Personal Skills Trusted, creates a credible impression and builds relationships build on respect. Qualifications: Senior manager of director with accountancy, legal or CTA qualification Experience of product or investment tax issues in a financial services environment preferred Strong UK corporate tax background with substantial exposure to international tax issues preferred
