Your opportunity Opportunities exist for assistant managers to join our Public Sector external audit and advisory team, based in our Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen offices, working with clients across Scotland. Our new assistant managers will primarily work with NHS boards, local authorities and central government. Prior experience of working with similar organisations is desirable but not a requirement. You will join our Scottish Public Sector team. Our portfolio of clients has grown considerably in recent years and we work with many of the largest and most complex public sector and not for profit organisations in Scotland. This growth provides significant opportunities for development and career progression. Our diverse client portfolio, together with the scope to perform wider assurance and advisory services presents a unique experience and development opportunity. Through our mentoring and development programme, we work with our assistant managers to build on their interests and actively support them in their progression to more senior levels. We have an excellent team culture with an active social committee. There are plenty of opportunities for our new team members to get to know their colleagues and quickly become an integrated part of our team. Your role Responsibilities will include:
• Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients;
• Developing and mentoring more junior members of staff;
• Field managing larger external audit engagements;
• Taking on management responsibility for smaller audit engagements;
• Supporting market growth activity; and
• Carrying out a variety of assurance and advisory projects. The majority of our clients are based within an hour of our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, however the role will involve some travel across the country and will require flexibility around peak times during the year. Locations: Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Suggested work pattern: Permanent full-time Your professional experience To qualify for the role you must:
• Be educated to degree level or have relevant professional experience; and
• Have a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA/ICAS/CIPFA/ACCA). Personal skills should include:
• An interest in working with the public sector;
• Experience of field managing external audit engagements;
• Excellent oral and written communication, including experience of report writing;
• Planning and project management skills;
• Being a good team player/leader with strong organisational skills;
• A proactive approach to problem solving; and
• A high level of motivation with a proven ability to work on your own initiative within a fast paced environment.
