The Audit and Risk Recruitment Company is assisting one of the largest housing association's in the South-West and South region to recruit an Audit and Risk Director is what is a newly created post. The role will report directly to the Audit Committee with accountability to the CFO. With an increasingly significant portion of the organisation's activities being commercially focused, you will be responsible for implementing a risk-based audit programme and establishing a robust framework for identifying and mitigating risk. As such, the position will suit a senior level risk assurance specialist. More specifically, this is a fantastic opportunity if you're currently a Senior Manager or Director in a professional services firm (Big 4 / Top 10) seeking a major role within an in-house function, or if you're a 'No. 2' in a complex commercial business vying for a 'No. 1' title. By the same token, this could be a unique challenge for a current Director in the commercial sector wanting a fresh and different environment. You will be afforded plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to scope and develop the audit & risk function as you see fit. Further responsibilities include;
• Preparing the annual risk-based audit plan and providing recommendations for improving the organisation's key operational and financial activities and internal controls
• Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organisation with consideration for the financial impact of risks when they arise
• Leading in the assessment of risk, and the design and implementation of strategies to mitigate against identified threats.
• Providing risk management guidance and promoting risk awareness throughout the organisation including communicating risk policies and procedures
• Collaborating and engaging with key stakeholders and SMT's in strategic priorities relating to change or transformation projects.
• Providing relevant reports depending upon the stakeholder group such as Board & Committee members or SMT's
• Continuously reviewing risk appetite ensuring key decisions are aligned to agreed risk appetite
• Leading the audit and risk team to create a high performing, collaborative function, ensuring development plans are in place, regular reviews undertaken, and performance issues resolved A full accounting or audit qualification is sought and prior experience directly managing people is a must. Additionally, you will be a strong, confident communicator with a keen commercial eye possessing the ability to push through proposals and ideas. Housing association sector knowledge and experience is not a requirement. For the further information and a confidential chat, please apply now.
